Why
Advocacy
San Teodoro Livelihood Center
Recognizing the need to reduce dependence on the ocean/fisheries as a source of income, we have been engaging with the coastal communities in San Teodoro, Mabini, Batangas to create livelihood opportunities as a sustainable alternative to fishing.
We work closely with community advocacy groups consisting of fisherfolk, women, the elderly, and members of Bantay Dagat to establish sustainable enterprises that are beneficial to both individuals and their environment.
The need to empower, enable and equip citizens with proper strategies and resources to live sustainably is crucial, given the increasing scarcity of marine sources. The project takes advantage of available resources while teaching new skills/crafts to create value through repurposing of plastic waste.
